School Improvement Plan Goals review 2025-2026:

• Increased by 19% in literacy (goal of 12)
• Increased by 13% in math (goal of 22)
• 71% of English Learner students increased by 1 level

This school year:

• Increase reading by 12% from BOY to EOY in Acadience Reading
• Increase math by 22% from BOY to EOY in MAP Growth
• Increase EL progress by at least 1 level

First weeks of school feelings:

• Positive feelings all around

Centennial celebration:

• New playground
• New signage: around the school, teachers' classrooms, etc.
• Book vending machine: Incentivize and encourage kids to read, students get a token and use it to get a book from the machine
• Centennial celebration week: October 12-16th
  • School board meeting at Wilson on the 13th at 5:00–encourage parents to come
    • SCC will present something at the meeting
• Wilson Opened on October 16th 1926! Celebration at 5:30 with food trucks and a live band

Discussion on declining enrollment:

• What educational experience can our school uniquely provide that families cannot easily find elsewhere?
• How can we attract students and families back to our school?

Magnet school: Be a school that “attracts” students that would fit in with the specific “type” of school we provide

• ie: Hillcrest is a magnet school for 2nd language learning

Give survey to all families/parents in our boundaries

Biggest idea/thought: Outdoor learning

• Utah State has a program on how to get agriculture in schools: Free lessons, books, experiments, etc (Tiffany has info) Ag in the Classroom
• Stewart/Stokes Nature
• Grizzly Pines Outdoor Learning Center
• First Dam
• Bonneville Shoreline
• Ties in with STEM also, could make both Outdoor Learning and STEM ideas come to life
• Working hard at some task makes them feel more competent and successful
• “What do your parents do”--bring in community members to show, talk, and include their trades and jobs in our schools
• Not “we are the only ones that do this”, but “We are the BEST ones who do this”
• Potential to open enrollment and cap students in each class, ie 25 students per class. If more, we do a lottery system
